Hog Receiving and Hog Barn
Keeping a low stress environment for hogs is critical to ensuring good meat quality. Therefore, Brandon trains all barn employees in proper hog handling techniques. We ensure that hogs from each producer do not get mixed with each other, as this is stressful for the animals. We prohibit the use of electric prods in the barns. And, of course, hogs are well rested before processing. The Brandon plant utilizes a third party video auditing system for all hog handling from receiving through to processing. The video monitoring is evidence of our commitment to building a culture of humane animal handling.
